PM Hun Sen Outlines Five Factors That Protect and Facilitate Investors in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen met with representatives of three investment companies on Monday morning, and told the Chinese business community that Cambodia welcomes all investors, adding that investing in Cambodia is guaranteed to protect and provide convenience to all businesses.

Representatives of three investment companies, led by Chinese tycoon Chen Zhi, met with Prime Minister Hun Sen at the Peace Palace on Monday morning (25 April), to inform the Prime Minister about the business activities of the three companies that intend to invest in Cambodia. The three representatives from China Investment, Easter Company and Kuan Company, also wished to ask more about the investment opportunities in the Kingdom.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Hun Sen told the company representatives that the investment climate in Cambodia has greatly improved due to five main factors: peace, laws that facilitate investment, a one-stop-shop system to facilitate investors, the lack of a ban on the use of foreign currency to pay salaries to staff, and the fact that Cambodia has a large workforce.

The three visiting companies, China Investment, Easter Company and Kuan Company, are in the mining, infrastructure, real estate, construction, transportation and security sectors. Prime Minister Hun Sen instructed the representatives to consult the Council for the Development of Cambodia to gain more details on best the investment destinations in Cambodia.
